The activities of the Opera di S. Maria del Fiore

The institutional role of the Opera di S. Maria del Fiore consists in conserving and valorizing the monumental complex of Piazza del Duomo; the Institution indeed attends to the constant upkeep and restoration of all of the works of art located there. Every year, in order to fulfill this responsibility in the best possible manner, the marble surfaces of all of the monuments in the square are subjected to a check-up, also employing a crane. The cleaning and restoration priorities can thus be programmed and are mainly performed by the specialized personnel of the Opera Technical Office.

Interventions financed and conducted by the Opera di S. Maria del Fiore
